Replays are automatically recoreded for every game you play in Spring.
They are saved to your TASpring\demo\ folder.
Watching Replays
To watch a replay of a game, start up the Spring Battleroom, and click the 'Replays' button on the top right. This brings up a window where you can select a replay to watch. Select a replay from the list, click 'Play' and enjoy!
People watch replays to improve their skill in playing Spring by watching what they did wrong, and what other people did right. Use them to improve your skill.
Downloading replays
Some people who have played a really good game decide to submit their replay to the public. Most of these replays are uploaded to replay site 1 or replay site 2.
Uploading Replays
If you want to submit a replay to File Universe, just click the Upload File link on the tool bar. Remember, to keep Storm and Gnome happy, you have to include the Version number of Spring, the Map you played on, and the Mod you were playing with in the title. If you dont do this, your replay will be deleted with out furthewr notice, as the people at File Universe are sick of un-named replays.
A good example on labelling replays:
0.76b1 AA 4FFA The Cold Place
This is pretty simple to decipher.
- 0.76b1 means that it was from version 0.76b1.
- AA is the mod. In this case, it is Absolute Annihilation.
- 4FFA is the number of players, and the team configuration. In this case, it is a 4 way Free For All. Other common names are:
- 1v1 A One versus One game. These can be quite good.
- 3v3 A Three versus Three. Two teams of three players battling it out.
- 2v2v2 A Two versus Two versus Two. Three teams of two players battling it out.
- 3v2 A Two versus Three. A team of two players battling a team of three players
- The Cold Place is the map. In this case it is, logically, The Cold Place. Some maps are typed out in full, while other maps are abbreviated. CPIA is Core Prime Industrial Area is a commonly seen abbreviation.
This gives sufficient information to read and decide whether to download it or not, yet its small enough not to clutter things up. You can provide a more detailed description in the description section if you so desire.
Note: Replays from different versions of Spring are not compatible. That is, if you have installed version 0.76b1, you can only watch replays recorded in 0.76b1. The replays are automatically labeled by spring with the current version number.)
