A mid-late game tactic
This tactic basically involves a large number of nuclear missile silos which are built, loaded with nukes, and then fired in rapid succession. Very successful if one of the nukes gets through the missile defense and hits a high concentration of expensive buildings that in turn create a chain reaction. eg. an advanced fusion reactor, or, (should your lottery ticket win whilst you are saving the alienware's CEO's life and he promises to get you the best damn machine they build, and your isp company draws a new "never pay for high speed internet again" competition with your name on the draw) two missiles get through, one hitting the Moho geothermal plant which explodes forcing the nearby commander into the airspace that the second missile is planning on taking, the resulting explosion slams the commander to the ground that is currently occupied by the Buzzsaw/Vulcan, which in turn explodes destroying the ring of doomsday machines surrounding the unexploded part of the base.
Nuke strike is effective against:
- New players (aka noobs)
- Peep with no missile defense :P
- Or hit your enemy's missile defense just before u nuke i.e planned / suicide air raid
Nuke Strike is ineffective against:
- Someone with more well fortified anti-nukes then you have nuclear silos.
- Someone with an expansion strategy.
Nuke strikes are difficult to pull off because of the high resource drain involved in building them and clearing enemy missile defense.
- However if you get some nice hits the game is either over then and there, or the opponent is crippled enough for the game to end shortly afterwards.
Beware of radar jammed areas hiding the enemy's real base, as well as mobile anti-nukes.
- Not nice to find out you have sent your entire mobile force to clear out the recently nuked decoy base and your back door is open to his 5 krogoths, life gets awkward quickly.
